Allen Senior Recreation Center is for persons 50 years of age and older, including their spouses. A variety of programs, trips, special events, activities and classes are offered at low-cost or free. Avoid crowded gyms by utilizing our fully-furnished fitness room. Other amenities include computers, billiards, ping pong tables and a library. Lunch is served daily. AARP Driver Safety Program
This course is a refresher for drivers 50 years old and over. Learn defensive driving techniques for safety and to reduce maintenance and car insurance costs. Grow Stronger Together Find your strength again as we Grow Stronger Together and have some fun too! We will work on a progressive strength training program for our major muscle groups, including core. Stretching, increasing flexibility and balance practice will also be included. Hand weights, bands, balls and chairs will assist us. Mat work on the floor will be optional. Thursdays, 9-10AM
Pilates Plus Pilates method of mat exercises plus yoga and ballet barre will all be incorporated to increase muscle strength, stamina, flexibility balance, and good posture, and all without high impact and at a comfortable pace. Chairs and resistance tools will be used to assist and enhance the practice. Thursdays, 5:30-6:30PM
Zumba Gold A fun fitness program based on Latin and international dance styles with lower-intensity, easy-to-follow choreography, focusing on balance, range of motion and coordination. No dance experience required and all levels welcome. Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6:45-7:45PM
Nature Lover’s One Night Wander MARCH 18-19, 2020
Escape the city and take a fishing trip to Ray Roberts Lake State Park. Explore the Celina Historic Square before enjoying lunch at Lucy’s on the Square. Enjoy multiple fishing opportunities, a group Basic Fishing Skills class and a Nature Walk led by a Park Ranger. Journey to nearby Pilot Point to pick flowers in the fields of Texas-Tulips. Our final stop before returning home will be lunch at Pilot Point’s uniquely decorated Bebo’s Café. The trip price includes: ASRC bus, 1-night lakeside lodge stay, 1 breakfast, park and tulip farm admissions, as well as guided nature activities. Double: $99 / Single: $149.
