COOK CHIROPRACTIC HEALTH & WELLNESS CENTER: HELPING YOU STAY INDEPENDENT & PAIN-FREE

by Cook Chiropractic Center

For more than 40 years, Dr. Philip Cook, DC has been helping patients do something that matters more with each passing year—get their lives back. Whether it’s walking without pain, sleeping through the night, or enjoying time with family, his focus has always been on restoring comfort, mobility, and independence.

When Dr. Cook first opened his practice, chiropractic care wasn’t as widely understood as it is today. Many patients came to him only after trying multiple other doctors and treatments.

“I was often the fourth or fifth doctor a patient had seen,” he recalls. “People came in frustrated and in pain, looking for something that would finally work.”

Over time, as more patients experienced real, lasting relief, that perception changed. Today, many people seek chiropractic care earlier—often as a first step toward healing rather than a last resort.

One of the biggest advances Dr. Cook has seen is in spinal decompression therapy, a gentle, non-surgical treatment that has brought relief to many patients suffering from chronic back and neck pain. During treatment, patients lie comfortably on a specialized table while the spine is gently stretched. This process relieves pressure on discs and nerves, helping the body heal naturally.

“For patients dealing with herniated discs, sciatica, or ongoing back pain, this can make a tremendous difference,” Dr. Cook says. “It’s about helping the body do what it was designed to do—heal.”

But it’s not just the back and spine. One of the most common concerns Dr. Cook sees—especially among older adults—is chronic knee pain. “Many patients believe knee surgery is their only option,” he says. “But in many cases, we can help repair and improve knee function without surgery or drugs.”

Using a combination of advanced therapies and targeted treatment plans, the practice works to reduce inflammation, improve joint function, and support the body’s natural healing process. For many patients, this means getting back to walking comfortably, climbing stairs with confidence, and staying active without relying on medications.

Another therapy gaining attention in the practice is red-light laser therapy, which works at the cellular level to reduce inflammation and speed healing. It’s commonly used for joint pain—including knees—muscle soreness, and nerve-related issues.

“We’re seeing excellent results,” Dr. Cook says. “It’s safe, comfortable, and helps patients feel better faster.”

For many older adults, one of the most frustrating conditions is peripheral neuropathy—nerve damage that can cause tingling, numbness, or pain in the hands and feet. Too often, patients are told there’s little that can be done beyond managing symptoms with medication.

Dr. Cook takes a different approach. “Medications may help temporarily, but they don’t address the cause,” he explains. “We focus on identifying what’s contributing to the problem and working to slow, stop, or even improve it.”

By combining advanced therapies with guidance on nutrition, movement, and lifestyle, his goal is to help patients maintain function and continue doing the things they enjoy.

Dr. Cook also offers a specialized technique called Cranial Alignment Turner Style (CATS), which he discovered after recovering from his own serious injuries. This technique focuses on subtle misalignments in the skull that can affect brain function and overall well-being.

“We see patients with headaches, vertigo, brain fog, and even post-concussion symptoms,” he says. “It’s incredibly rewarding to help people feel like themselves again.”

Importantly, addressing these conditions does more than relieve pain—it also plays a critical role in improving balance and stability, which becomes increasingly important with age.

“When patients move better, feel better, and regain strength and coordination, their balance improves,” Dr. Cook says. “That can significantly reduce the risk of falls, which can be life-changing for people over 65.”

By helping patients stay steady on their feet, the practice supports not just comfort, but safety, confidence, and long-term independence.

A unique part of Cook Chiropractic is its strong emphasis on whole-body wellness. Dr. Cook’s wife, Regina, a certified nutritionist, works alongside him to help patients improve their health from the inside out. “Nutrition plays a huge role in healing,” Dr. Cook says. “When you reduce inflammation and support your body properly, everything works better.”

Together, they guide patients on practical steps—such as healthier eating habits, weight management, and simple lifestyle changes—that can make a lasting difference.

The practice itself has grown over the years as well. Cook Chiropractic recently moved into a spacious new location in Garland, designed with patient comfort and accessibility in mind. Wide hallways, easy parking, and accommodations for mobility challenges make visits as smooth and stress-free as possible.

But while the facility and technology have evolved, the mission has remained the same.

“We’re here to help people feel better, move better, and live better,” Dr. Cook says. “There’s nothing more rewarding than seeing someone get back to doing the things they love.”

For those looking for a natural, non-surgical approach to pain relief—whether it’s back pain, knee issues, neuropathy, or concerns about balance and mobility—Cook Chiropractic Health & Wellness Center offers experience, compassion, and a path forward at any age.
