DO YOU REALLY NEVER GO HUNGRY ON A CELEBRATION TRIP?

By Grace Glasscock

The rumors are true; there is never a lack of food on a Celebration trip. Whether it is snack bags for your plane ride, hourly runs up and down the aisle of a bus with various treats, or a hearty meal in a new city, you will be begging us to stop feeding you by the time we get back to The SPOT.

Before each trip, we warn our new travelers to prepare their stomachs for the endless amount of snacks they will be given. Without fail, we always receive innocent, light-hearted “Yeah, right” looks and laughs, not knowing what was coming for them. On the other hand, if you look around the room at our seasoned travelers, you will notice the loving eye rolls and the “Oh no, here we go again” glares, as they prepare themselves for the extra five pounds our snacks will help them remember us by. Some even claim they can still hear us in their dreams, walking up and down the aisles of the bus, saying, “Snacks, snacks, snacks!”

Not only is there a never-ending supply of snacks, but each meal and restaurant is carefully chosen to ensure we have the best food experience wherever we go. Every place you visit has its own flavors, smells, and special dishes connecting you with the culture, and it is our job to help you experience them. One of my favorite meals to this day was in Kennebunkport, Maine. When you are in New England, everyone knows that eating seafood is a requirement. The Clam Shack was a must-visit, and their infamous lobster roll certainly did not disappoint. Fresh lobster, on a roll, smothered in butter and mayo, complete with a side of creamy coleslaw and fries. I can still taste it in my dreams!

And of course, no meal is complete without dessert! Whether it’s a spontaneous trip for ice cream to the original Leopold’s in Savannah, or fresh banana bread from the local farmers market in Kennebunkport, a treat from Celebration always brings a smile to everyone’s face.

Sometimes the most memorable part of a trip isn’t the sights you saw, but the amazing meals you tasted. Long after the trip is over, it’s often those unforgettable meals, and the Celebration staff forcing you to fill your bags with more snacks, that stay with you the most. So, the next time you join Celebration Senior Travel on a trip, consider yourself warned that you’ll be heading home with a smile on your face, a full stomach, and maybe even a few new favorite snacks!
