Can you believe that the summer is here! That means swimsuits, the beach, camping, eating and more. And speaking of eating. Scientists have said that if you add these foods to your diet daily, you can turn back the clock on your body by ten years or more! Who’s in?
Stop cancer with tomato soup! Pressure, stress, bumper to bumper traffic can age cells. Five tablespoons of tomato soup a week is a simple way to erase stress. The same antioxidant that gives tomatoes their red color also packages up the harmful compounds so that they can easily be washed out of the body before they can damage cells. To maximize the benefit, add a dollop of sour cream to the top-the body can absorb significantly more lycopene if eaten with some fat!
Sunflower seeds! Another study found that women with the youngest looking, least sun damage skin had 61 percent higher concentration of vitamin E in their systems to those with the oldest looking skin and sun flower seeds have the richest source of vitamin E you can eat! Also, eating foods rich in vitamin E is also proven to improve vascular heath and also can diminish varicose veins in the ankles and neck!
Keep lungs healthy with carrots! As we age, our lungs defense against toxins such as smoking and pollutants weakens but research has shown crunching 5 carrots a week bolsters those defenses back. Eating carrots also helps keep your cholesterol in check thanks to soluble fiber called calcium pectate-the same compound that make them crunchy!
Blueberries protect that brain! Simply sprinkling a half cup on yogurt, cereal or salad daily can reverse age related cognitive and motor decline. That means you will plow through work tasks faster and with fewer mistakes. Compounds in blueberries soothe inflammation and fights off free radical damage.
Chocolate smooths skin! Women who indulge in this succulent treat daily for just three months wound up with younger looking skin, according to a recent study. Their complexions had less UV sun damage and their skin looked more hydrated. For the best results, they said that dark chocolate is the best because it’s made of 70% cocoa. It contains the highest number of flavanols and this will open up the blood vessels. Dark chocolate will help repair cells and restore youthfulness. Also, you might want to get a little nutty by choosing a chocolate bar with almonds, macadamia nuts or walnuts and this will help you benefit more youthfulness.
I’m not a doctor by any means, but I sure do like these prescriptions for a more youthful appearance. I don’t know about you but I’m ready for easing stress, younger looking skin, a healthy brain, and chocolate, especially the chocolate!
Happy eating!
