Looking Back With Mrs. Coy!

“No soup for you!” is a famous catchphrase from the TV show Seinfeld. The phrase became a popular and cultural reference, originating from a very strict and demanding soup vendor from the same show. He often refused his customers that were not deemed worthy of eating his food on the basis of nothing, really. It was his restaurant and his rules, which made the show even funnier.

The soup vendor in all reality is an impassioned chef that spends hours on his recipes that have been passed down from generation to generation with handwritten notes from long ago family members mixed with his own. He has spent a great deal of time sourcing the best ingredients - even that really hard to find ingredient, for each of his recipes. He has carefully planned the meals with great intensity. He has spent long hours prepping and cooking the perfect masterpiece to be admired by all. The hearty smells permeating through his kitchen as he continues to cook and yell orders to the servers preparing the dishes for the customers.

I see this intensity everyday with chefs and home cooks alike. It is their masterpiece, their brilliance and dedication to create the most perfect dish that is made with love mixed with a lot of hard work and patience. It is offered to you to enjoy with the perfect balance of layered flavors that have you hooked after the first sip.

As the chef is watching the first sip, he smiles knowing he has made a difference with the customer. Unfortunately, after the first sip, the customer asks the waiter for some salt, tabasco and some ranch to dip his bread. This is the greatest of insults to the chef and as he sprints to the table and grabs the soup. He shouts, “No soup for you!” and the customer is escorted away.

Sometimes, we don’t have time to create that most perfect soup nor the inclination. There are some easy soup home recipes created by Chef Coy that can be prepared in 5 ingredients or less. Although you didn’t spend the arduous amount of time preparing the soup as our impassioned chef, it will sure taste like you did. You can adapt soup recipes to your dietary needs as well as adding a bone broth for immune support. Soups are also customizable with ingredients you actually like. Overall, there are soups that eat like a meal and others that are meant for sipping. No matter how you like your soups, they are easy and affordable.

If someone complains about your soup, don’t worry about it.

It simply means “More Soup For YOU” and walk away with your soup mug in hand.
