THE POWER OF HOPE

by Mary Frances Hansen

Hope is so important in our lives today because it is an optimistic state with positive outcomes. It is the key that opens doors to healing our heart, mind and soul. The power of hope achieves the impossible. It can inspire, revive, and empower us. Hope will get us through our darkest days.

Nothing is perfect. We all face times when our future is uncertain and we encounter defeats. Life is a journey and we never know what is lurking around the corner. We can't always control things that happen to us, but we can control our attitudes and how we choose to react to them. Life is like a smorgasbord and we all have choices. An inspiring quote by Eleanor Roosevelt, “With the new day comes new strength and new thoughts.” Sometimes our pain today will be our strength for tomorrow.

At the start of each day we should strive to fill our minds with positive thoughts. Our positive morning thoughts could change our whole day. They can lift us up and give us the strength and endurance we need to face our adversities. One of my very favorite Bible scriptures is Psalm 46:1 “God is our refuge and our strength, an ever-present help in trouble.”

Life isn't about waiting for the storms to pass, but learning how to dance in the rain. The power of hope holds the storms together until the storm passes. I feel.....there are always lessons to be learned from our adversities and we need to be grateful for the lessons we have learned. Our adversities make us stronger and give us courage. Courage is a basic trait of strong character. Let your power of hope, not your hurts, direct your future. “Watch your actions, they become your habits, watch your habits, they become your character, watch your character, it becomes your destiny.” (Anonymous)

We must try and live each day to the fullest counting our blessings. Tomorrow is promised to no one. “You don't succeed by saying what you are going to do, you succeed by doing, what you say you are going to do!” (Anonymous) Henry Ford once said, “There is no man living who isn't capable of doing more than he thinks he can.”

Have faith in your journey. You are exactly where you are meant to be. Go with the waves and learn to ride them. Steve Maraboli, a life changing inspirational speaker and author states, “Life doesn't get easier or more forgiving, we get stronger and more resilient.” Tell yourself you are braver than you seem and loved more than you know. Motivational quote by American writer E.W. White, “Hang on to your hat. Hang on to your hope. And wind the clock for tomorrow it is another day!”

Regardless of what age we are.....young or old, we must never Give Up! There is Power in Hope and Power in Prayer. We need to keep setting goals for ourselves and keep a purpose in our lives. We all have setbacks with our health of some sort, lost a spouse, faced disappointments, deeply hurt by a loved one, or stressed over financial difficulties. Whatever our adversity is..... we must have a mindset and turn our negatives into positives and never Give Up!

In closing.... “This Is My Wish For You, Comfort on difficult days, Smiles when sadness intrudes, Rainbows to follow the clouds, Laughter to kiss your lips, Hugs when spirits sag, Beauty for your eyes to see, Friendships to brighten your being, Faith so you can believe, Confidence when you doubt, Courage to know yourself, Patience to accept truth, Love to complete your life.” quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson. STAY STRONG, STAY SAFE and KEEP THE FAITH!
